  • Why should I be baptized?

    Jesus Set the Example

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.” Mark 1:9

    The Bible Commands It

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19

  • What does baptism mean?

It Pictures Christ’s Burial & Resurrection

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2:12

It Pictures the New Life as a Christian

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

Baptism is a picture on the outside of what has happened on the inside. Just as a wedding ring symbolizes your love and commitment to your spouse, so does baptism symbolizes your love and commitment to Jesus.

  • Why do we baptize by immersion?

    Jesus Was Baptized by Immersion

“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:” Matthew 3:16

The Other Baptisms in the New Testament Were Also by Immersion

“...both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.” Acts 8:38-39

This is the Clearest Picture of the Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2:12

The Word “Baptize” Literally Means to “Dip Under Water”

The Greek word baptize means “to immerse or dip under water.”

  • Who should be baptized?

Every person who accepts and believes that Jesus Christ shed His blood to pay their sin penalty should be baptized

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” Acts 2:41

Temple is very careful to make sure our children are mature enough to accept, believe and understand the basics of salvation and the meaning of baptism before they are baptized.

When Can I Be Baptized?

We have baptisms every month, on the 1st Sunday of each month. You can be baptized at any one of these services!

You will be given free, personal invitations allowing you to invite family, friends and neighbors to share in the experience. After scheduling your baptism at 411 Central or online, a follow-up phone call will confirm your baptism date and answer any questions you might have including:

  • What time should I arrive?
  • Where do I go?
  • What do I need to bring?
  • What clothes should I wear?
  • What should I expect?

We Encourage You to:

  • Read God’s Word each day
  • Pray for God’s direction each day
  • Join a Life Group
  • Worship and praise the Lord each Sunday
  • Be involved with a church ministry
  • Share what Jesus has done for you as often as possible
